Abstract: The McKay correspondence ties the representation theory of a finite subgroup G of SL(n,ℂ) with resolution of singularities of the quotient varieties ℂ_n/G. In the series of talks, we shall introduce to the classical McKay correspondence, i.e. n=2, from the side of resolution of singularities.
The tentative lectures are:
1. Affine varieties, quotient varieties, toric varieties
2. Projective varieties, resolution of singularities
3. Intersection numbers
4. Resolution of singularities for ℂ_2/G, where G is an abelian subgroup of SL(2,ℂ)
5. Resolution of singularities for ℂ_2/G, where G is an non-abelian subgroup of SL(2,ℂ)
