Geometry and Topology Seminar——Instanton homology and Khovanov homology for links in thickened surfaces

Abstract: In this talk, we will give an introduction to various versions of Khovanov homologies, which are combinatorial invariants for links in the 3-sphere or thickened surfaces. Then we will introduce analogues of these invariants defined using Instanton Floer homology. These two types of invariants (Khovanov/instanton) are related by spectral sequences, which allows us to derive detection properties of Khovanov homology. This talk is based on joint work with Zhenkun Li and Boyu Zhang.
